
St. Helens, Oregon - - A St. Helens family was displaced by a fire Monday, December 7, 2009, just after 4:30 PM. One of the home owners, and a child, were at home when the fire was discovered. According to the owner, it is suspected that the fire started in the laundry room. The cause is under investigation. No one was injured.
When firefighters arrived at 58947 Evergreen Loop, flames were showing from the garage and were quickly spreading throughout the structure. The fire was declared under control at 5:17 PM. Firefighters remained on-scene for several hours.
Columbia River Fire and Rescue responded with four fire engines, one rescue, one ambulance and four support staff vehicles, totaling 21 personnel. St. Helens Police Department and the City of St. Helens helped provide traffic control. The American Red Cross also responded and is assisting the family.
